First international skills.lab Summit

Innovation connects. In line with this principle, skills.lab by Anton Paar invited participants to the first international skills.lab Summit in Graz and Wundschuh. Important partners from professional football accepted the invitation to the summit.

In addition to FC Bayern München, TSG Hoffenheim and FC Ingolstadt from Germany, the reigning Polish champions Lech Poznan were also present with a delegation. The field of participants was completed over the three days by representatives of SK Puntigamer Sturm Graz and the Austrian Football Association (ÖFB). What unites this field of participants is that they all rely on the skills.lab training systems from Anton Paar.

The summit was opened by the two hosts: Friedrich Santner, CEO of Anton Paar GmbH and Johannes Tändl, General Manager of Anton Paar SportsTec GmbH. In their speeches, they underlined the steadily growing importance that Anton Paar, as a globally active measurement technology group, now also has in the world of football. The skills.lab training systems – especially the 320 m² skills.lab Arena – set new standards in the measurable development of footballers’ performance.

The subsequent talks dealt with the different facets of the use of high-tech measurement and training systems. Oskar Kretzinger, skills.lab team leader at FC Bayern München, gave a detailed insight into how the German record champion integrates the skills.lab Arena into its daily training work. From regular screening of all academy players, to targeted individual training, to transparent, data-driven scouting – the skills.lab Arena now plays a central role in numerous areas of player development.

With the same professionalism but different focus, the TSG ResearchLab works at the TSG Hoffenheim training ground. Jan Spielmann, General Manager of the TSG ResearchLab, provided comprehensive field reports on how the skills.lab Studio is systematically used to objectively measure and specifically train the cognitive performance of athletes. The skills.lab Studio is a cylindrical system with a diameter of 6 m and a 360° projection surface in which players are immersed in a new world of cognitive training, and was developed by Anton Paar together with the TSG ResearchLab.

"Through direct interaction with our professional partners in football, we continue to advance our mission of assessment-based training and scouting."
Johannes Tändl, General Manager of Anton Paar SportsTec GmbH

And since, according to coaching legend Otto Rehagel, the truth lies on the pitch, the summit was also used to exchange experiences from coaching team to coaching team in practical sessions. Because what the skills.lab Summit clearly revealed: even if the teams are competitors on the pitch, they move forward together in terms of high-tech football training.
